Monika Lewis is a head teacher in the Newark Public School system with a master’s degree in early childhood education from Kean University.

Previously, she taught Korean language at New Hope School in Clifton, New Jersey. She is co-founder of the International Family Club which aspires to strengthen families by building character through service projects and education and to foster a culture that honors diversity and mutual value as one human family. Ms. Lewis has also lived in Korea for 7 years while teaching German and English as well as studying the Korean language and absorbing the Korean culture. After the fall of the Berlin wall, Ms. Lewis spent one and a half years in Leipzig in East Germany as a volunteer for the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification. As secretary general of One World Peace Association, she has volunteered to contribute her Korean language and moderating skills.
